| Pamela
Power - Sculptor |
|
Pamela
began her career with Waterford Crystal in 1987 where she
worked in our Packing Department for 10 years. Having a
great interest in art, Pamela has attended the local Art
College by night for the past ten years, studying Life Drawing,
Computer Art and Design. It was her great interest in art
that inspired Pamela in 1997 to successfully apply for an
apprenticeship in the Sculpting Department, and is now in
her fourth year of a five-year apprenticeship.
Pamela
has worked on many pieces in her time in the Sculpting Department.
Some of her favourite pieces include a sculpture of the
ruined Castle that is situated on Ballybunion’s famous Golf
Links, which she herself presented to President Bill Clinton
after his game of Golf while on a visit to Ireland Pamela
was also involved in the making of a replica of Old Trafford,
which was presented by Sir Alex Ferguson to the Manchester
United Football Club.
Other
projects completed by Pamela include The Hockenheim Trophies
for the French and German Grand-Prix’s and also a replica
of a Chef’s hat for renowned chef Michele Roux. In her spare
time, Pamela enjoys swimming, snorkelling and sailing. By
night, she loves to relax with a good book or do some sketch
drawings in her home.

“Sculpting to me is a wonderful example of craft and precision.
For one of a kind or unique pieces, I work from a solid block
of crystal which can take up to 2 to 3 weeks to complete just
one piece. For many of the one of a kind pieces, I often need
to visit the location or work from sketches and photographic images
to ensure the accuracy of the sculpture”.

| Billy
Briggs - Designer |
|
Billy
started his career at Waterford in 1970 as a cutter but
was invited to join the prestigious design team at Waterford
in 1978 so that one day, he would be able to create his
own pieces. He remembers with pride, the Ballyshannon suite
which was his first design which went into production and
revelled in the satisfaction of seeing the designs he created
in the stores throughout the United States of America.
Billy is an avid reader and loves the themes of Romance
and Heritage, both of which inspired him to design creative
interpretations of the Romance of Ireland collection. Among
his favourite pieces, Billy particularly enjoyed designing
the Maritana Vase inspired by the famous opera of the same
name. He is also the designer of the coveted Solheim Cup
and for Christmas he was the originator of the Twelve Days
of Christmas pieces which have been collected by thousands
of people throughout the world.
Billy
loves tennis and reading in his spare time and especially
enjoys walking his dog 'Lotto' on cold winter mornings.
